Study of World Civilisation is very interesting and important in more than one way. It is both informative, purposeful as well as useful. Obviously its scope is very wide. It covers not only the whole universe but also the history of times immemorial. Its study is so vast that volumes can be written, and have in fact been written, on the subject.
In this handy volume an attempt has been made to briefly survey the whole subject. Beginning with how the life came on the earth; River Valley Civilisations, Roman, Greece and Aryan Civilisations have been discussed. Similarly the teachings and contributions of important religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam have been dealt with. How the people were governed in the feudal society, and under enlightened monarchs and how struggle started and ended between the church and the state are other important problems which have dealt with in this volume.
The volume, among other things deals with the rise of nationalism in different parts of the world. It also studies how many countries of world suffering under colonial rule won their freedom in Asia, Africa etc. It is also in this volume that an attempt has been made to find out the causes of the failure of the League of Nations and the working and future of U.N.O.
Some objective type questions have been answered and a brief discussion has been initiated on some important world personalities.
In this way an attempt has been made to cover as wide a scope as possible, within the short-space available. Important authorities on the subject have been quoted to make the study more attractive and authentic. The language, as usual, has been kept very simple and understandable.
