First produced at Molesworth Hall in 1904, J.M. Synge's Riders to the Sea is a powerful and haunting tragedy of a mother who loses all her sons to the sea, and remains to this day one of the enduring classics.
A word about the necessity for this book is necessary. We are aware that there would be several other books available on this play, so where is the need of another book on this play? For one reason, the play has such complexities that it has been observed that not every aspect of situation, language and character is covered in any single book. Special attention has been paid to very seminal aspects: to examine the subtleties of situation and character, and then, it has been written in a language most suited to the students of literature. And, therefore, believing it to be distinctly different in dealing with analysis and critical views especially in the question and answer section, which is inclusive of the best available criticism.
