Known mostly for his anti-establishmnent plays, Badal Sircar (1925-2011) was the single most influential figure in contemporary Indian theatre. His Evam Indrajit (1963) captures the existential angst, the quest for meaning of the 1960s generation, represented by Amal, Vimal, Kamal and the loner Indrajit.
The present critical study places Sircar in the context of modern Indian theatre and his contribution to the medium while analyzing the text. Several critical and textual problems have been answered at the end for our universisty students from the examination point of view.
