Exhaustive and Critical Notes on The Individual and Society cover all the prescribed texts for the First year B.A. Programme of the University of Delhi from 2005-06 onwards. The sections covered are Caste/Class, Gender, Race, Violence and War, and how they affect the individual. The texts have been explained, simplified and annotated for the benefit of students. In addition, questions on the texts, including comparative studies of texts in the same section have been answered for a better understanding and comprehension of how similar issues are tackled by writers from different backgrounds and milieus. Shakti Batra, Formerly Vice-Principal of Dayal Singh College (University of Delhi), has taught at the Kabul University and the University of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.
