Tughlaq, Karnad’s second Kannada play (translated by himself into English) is know widely recognised as a classic. It first appeared in print in 1964 and was an immediate success on the stage. It has since been translated into several Indian and foreign languages and staged all over the world. The present critical study analyses and examines the play from all possible angles and perspectives so as to make it more successful to students in universities in India and abroad. Shakti Batra has been Vice-Principal, Dyal Singh College (University of Delhi).
