As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s most interesting and entertaining comedies. Barring a few scenes, the whole play keeps us laughing from beginning to end. The main sources of laughter are the wit of Rosalind, Celia, and Touchstone, the irony behind ²⇖䑅ndo’s mock-wooing of Ganymede, and Phebe’s falling in love with Ganymede (who is no other than Rosalind herself in the disguise of a young man). The personality of Jaques has its own interest. His very melancholy and cynicism are amusing.
